How do i take the distributor drive pinion for a 69 VW beetle?

I took the distributor and the fuel pump off and I also adjusted the timing and everything. I used a magnet to try to take it out but it just wont budge. Any ideas?How do i take the distributor drive pinion for a 69 VW beetle?There is a special puller made to pull the distributor drive out. With out that tool splitting the case is your only option. If so, rotate the crankshaft slightly one way or the other while someone holds the nub with a pair of needlenose pliers.



If you are trying to dig out the distributor drive gear, then split the case and follow the rebuild procedures.
