What type of gas to use on my 2004 VW Beetle with Turbo Engine?

Hi, I was wondering what kind of gas I need to use for my 2004 Beetle with a turbo engine? I am currently using 91 octane but now its' reached 4 dollars! Could I put in the middle grade to save some money or will that ruin my engine? Thanks. What type of gas to use on my 2004 VW Beetle with Turbo Engine?Premium. Yeah, you can risk putting middle grade gas in your car, but if you run into engine problems later you'll be asking yourself, "Was saving a few bucks at every fillup really worth it?"

I feel you pain ... my car requires premium unleaded too. It's times like this that I really miss my Prius!!!What type of gas to use on my 2004 VW Beetle with Turbo Engine?if the say to use premium, thats what you use. the turbo causes the engine to run at a higher compression thus causing pre-mature ignition or knock. the higher octane gas is harder to burn and there fore prevents knock.

Using lower quality gas could be possible, you would have to try it and see. You do run the risk of hurting your engine though. What type of gas to use on my 2004 VW Beetle with Turbo Engine?I have asked this same question to VW people and the answer is premium on that engine. The older 2.0 nonturbo 4 cylinders could use the other. I believe the new 2.5 5 Cylinder can use regular. What type of gas to use on my 2004 VW Beetle with Turbo Engine?
it will not ruin your engine immediately, but it WILL shorten its lifespan

You will also get poor gas mileage on the cheap gas, so in the end it won't be worth it.
