How do you replace the fuel line on a 1961 VW beetle?

A full tank of gas leaked out of my beetle from under tank area of the car. I have bought 1/4" fuel line to replace the old line but I am not sure how to do the work. Can anyone give me step by step instructions? How do you replace the fuel line on a 1961 VW beetle? It is a short section of hose needed that run from the fuel outlet at the bottom of the tank and the hard line coming out of the front tunnel on top.

If you don't have access to a lift, jack up the front (use jack stands and chalk the rear tire) and set the e-brake. You might have to loosen the tank brackets from above so the tank can move enough to get to the bottom outlet. Clean the tank outlet and the hard fuel line coming out of the tunnel. Not sure what line you bought, but braided 5mm line is the best.

Use small clamps and make sure you don't over tighten them.

Once you have both ends secure, re-tighten the brackets on top and you should be good to go.How do you replace the fuel line on a 1961 VW beetle?open the trunk lid and remove the gas tank , you should see the rubber line that needs replacement , if it is the one that goes through the pan , well it is a bit more complicated but basically tape the new one to the old one and crawl under the rear near the transaxle and pull , good luck .
