The base model Passat has 200 horsepower. With the manual transmission (only available in the Turbo trim) it will do 0-60 MPH in just under 7 seconds (not bad). With the automatic it does about 7.6 seconds which is still pretty good. There are a couple of different 4 Cylinder gas engines out there with different levels of power.
There is a 3 Liter gas engine and the 3.6 Liter RS36 Passat which is a real head turner.
