According to my past customers at the dealership level, most people seem to get mid twenties or slightly better on the highway ( low of 22 to a high of 30), with city fuel economy being somewhere between 15 to 20 mpg, depending on type of city driving.



My personal experience with driving a Beetle for several weeks with an automatic is 17 city, 26 highway, using a Beetle with California emissions and the a/c always on.



In general, the VW's of late don't get the high fuel economy that VW's of the past were famous for. The days of mid thirties fuel economy at 70 mph are gone (at least for the gasolene engines), but power is way up from those heddy days of the 1980's...

aircleaner and buy a fuel system cleaner that removes alot of deposits inside the motor take the car for a good run get it

warm make sure youre tires are inflated properly probanly to 35lbs'

with my 2.0 I get about 29-32 highway and 24-25 around town. I also have a manual transmission.



Your mileage on the 2.0 will be great if you keep it about 69-70mph on the highway, that is the sweet spot!
