Hello... could anyone offer advice on how to remove the red plastic brake light cover in a 2002 vw Golf ?

I want to know how to remove the brake/tail light cover, because the vw engineers make the thing seamless to the outside, no screws or other fasteners reveal themselves... can someone offer advice on how to approach the removal of the tail light cover? I don't want to force the thing and end up breaking some plastic piece that will cost a fortune to replace, yet I need to get inside to replace the bulb... where is the hidden tab/latch that holds the thing in place? thanks for any tips!Hello... could anyone offer advice on how to remove the red plastic brake light cover in a 2002 vw Golf ?look inside your trunk area around the lights, there should be an access panel for the lights. you might have to remove the carpet from the area. i think it takes a star screwdriver to remove.

if your still having a problem go to auto zone, or pepboys, they are very handy in those situations.Hello... could anyone offer advice on how to remove the red plastic brake light cover in a 2002 vw Golf ?You don't remove the entire housing to replace the bulb. You just remove the bulb from behind the carpet lining in the hatch and put a new one in, refer to owners manual as well.Hello... could anyone offer advice on how to remove the red plastic brake light cover in a 2002 vw Golf ?If you go to pep boys or autozone they have these know-it-all manuals called Haynes and they tell you how to do every little thing you could ever need to do to your car. I suggest you pick one up for your car if you plan on keeping it for a while. They only cost like 16 bucks and in my opinion are a good investment if you plan on making repairs on your car. I bought one and it walked me through changing my suspension.
