My 1987 VW Golf makes a creaking noise in the front when I come to a stop. Any ideas?

Just as I come to a stop. Sort of like a staggered grabbing noise. I just put new front brake pads on.My 1987 VW Golf makes a creaking noise in the front when I come to a stop. Any ideas?Perhaps your new brake pads are embedding in. If, after a few days, the noise persists, check the bushings on your front suspension, especially the

there is probably a rock lodged in the brake pad or something is out of alignmentMy 1987 VW Golf makes a creaking noise in the front when I come to a stop. If you just put on new brake pads, then it's probably your brake rotor. To test it, take one of the wheels off and run your finger on the rotor, feeling to see if it is warped or very smooth.

I had a Volvo with the same problem, kind of a grinding noise when I stopped. But replacing the pads fixed the problem.

So if the rotor is warped, which might be the case, you'd want to get that replaced, not only for getting rid of the noise, but also for safety, as it will decrease your stopping distance.

Good luck.My 1987 VW Golf makes a creaking noise in the front when I come to a stop. Any ideas?Depending on when you last had it done, did you also have the drums or rotors (whichever you have on your car) turned? A good rule-of-thumb is to have them turned once and the next time you are due for pads, replace the drums or rotors. Relatively inexpensive to do.My 1987 VW Golf makes a creaking noise in the front when I come to a stop. Any ideas?
One of the pads is not secure(installed wrong) or you did not resurface the rotors and they are meshing in still.

Need to take apart and check to be safe.
