Can i use a vw battery in a 97 5 series BMW?

My aunt has an extra battery that came out of a VW, can I use it in my BMW?Can i use a vw battery in a 97 5 series BMW?you will have to goto the battery venders website and see if that model battery will work on the car you want to put it on.
