Is the new 2011 VW Jetta a better purchase than a Civic or Kizashi?

My concerns are about ownership- cost of maintaining a German car (as opposed to Japanese). Since it's now priced similar to the Japanese cars, are there any trade-offs I should know about (in terms of engine tech, etc)? Many thanks! Is the new 2011 VW Jetta a better purchase than a Civic or Kizashi?i have a 07 jetta and love it, cant complain...if i were you i would get the 11 jetta. cost wise i am not sure for that one, i got mine at a good price, and it is good on gas. i have actually taken my jetta in less times than my camry that i used to have (hopefully that continues). the jetta has awesome acceloration and hp for its class, i also like many of its features which include mirror turn signals, rear seat air conditioning, an the largest trunk size in its class (great for traveling and carrying luggage), the car drives beautifully...i am not crazy about the kizashi, i dont find suzukis to be great. i havent heard many reviews about them either. when it comes to the civic here is the problem, they dont have a lot of horsepower that is why they get great gas mileage so if it only a commuter car to work then it would be fine. but when it comes to carrying 4 passengers and/or going on a long road trip with luggage then the civic feels weak. you can really feel the weight slowing it down. also if you want a sporty feeling, the civic is not for you unless you get the si, i dont like the steering wheel at all if feels wrong when driving, just to small and not great placement...if anything i would also check out the mazda 3, which is similar to the jetta...but for me its all about the jetta. i know its kinda biased, but i did tons of research before i got my jetta hope this helps a littleIs the new 2011 VW Jetta a better purchase than a Civic or Kizashi?Just to start off, I'm not biased in any way! ha ha

But I worked at a Suzuki dealership, and I must say, the Kizashi is VERY impressive! Intelligent AWD system (like on the nissan GTR and higher end Audi). It has many many amenities that the civic nor jetta will have, not to mention the overall price.

A little too steep for my range, but with the warranty that comes with the new Suzukis, you really can't beat that deal. Not to mention... Not everyone has a Kizashi! :)

If I had to give it a rating from 0-10, I'd set it up at a comfortable 9. Very comfortable, great ride, safe, reliable, decent fuel economy, great warranty, nice styling, interior is quite luxurious feeling while retaining that sporty feel, road noise is minimal for it's class, decent power train, smart AWD is phenomenal in ANY weather conditions, and PLENTY of room considering it's size!

It really won't disappoint! Not to mention, the options and color choices are very nice! So there's something for every budget! And if you're looking along the lines of the Kizashi, check out the Kia Forte. Equally as impressive, same amount of options, and a lot easier on the wallet! Not to mention, it's also offered in a sporty coupe! The Kia Forte Koup.

I hope I gave you enough info to help! :) Good luck on your new buy! :DIs the new 2011 VW Jetta a better purchase than a Civic or Kizashi?I'm the original owner of my 1999 VW Jetta (paid $20,000 in July of 1999). I have 165,000 miles on it and have a few problems but nothing major. I've never driven a Kizashi, but I can tell you the feel of my 11 year old car compared to a brand new Honda is night and day. I say German engineering is the way to go for your next purchase. The Jetta will have more leg room than the other 2 cars as well.
