Is it a good idea to convert a VW bug to electric?

Im saving up to buy my first car and I'd like opinions and price ranges of paying a mechanic to convert a VW bug to electric.Is it a good idea to convert a VW bug to electric?Since this would be considered a specialty item, the average mechanic would not be able to do that type of conversion.......................there may be companies on the web that have price quotes; try a Google search for "electrical vehicle conversions" or similar
