I'm looking for a pattern to this in the vw Golf.
Many THanks for your help.I have a vw Golf 2004 model and i have had huge problems with loss of acceleration and power.Has any one else?as already mentioned this could be as simple as a loose turbo pipe.
But i would lay money on it being the air flow meter, they are well known for failing on the MK4 Golf's mine failed twice and they also do not throw up a fault code when scanned.
Symptoms are as follows - NO POWER AT ALL its like driving a 1.0L bus, on the flat and down hill it takes ages to get up to speed and then once you hit a hill no power and having to drop down the gears sometimes even as low as second. They way to check is to unplug the air flow meter and drive the car, it should pretty much be back to normal. However unplugging it will log a fault code in the ECU so this will need clearing once fixed. If symptoms are as above this WILL be the issue.
Make sure you replace it with an OEM VW meter, they are about 拢 50 - 60 the cheap e-bay ones dont last two minutes.
For all your VW problems visit www.vwaudiforum.co.uk, there are a few guys on there that will diagnose almost anything.

I have a vw Golf 2004 model and i have had huge problems with loss of acceleration and power.Has any one else?I'm having the very same problem with 2004 Golf. It's a 1.6 litre petrol.Sudden loss of power for no reason. Very annoying.
I've had 3 visits to the garage at a cost of 鈧?00 and still not resolved. Computer diagnostic shows no problem.
I'm going to replace the air flow meter and see if that works.

I have a vw Golf 2004 model and i have had huge problems with loss of acceleration and power.Has any one else?Which engine is in the car? As mentioned above, the turbo gasoline engines had some issues with boost pipes, the 2.0Ls and smaller were dogs from the day they were born, and the TDIs were subject to limp mode....I have a vw Golf 2004 model and i have had huge problems with loss of acceleration and power.Has any one else? These suffer from loose or split turbo pipes check them first.
