How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?

I am about to buy a VW campervan, it needs a respray. there is some rust that needs sorting too (bottom of door and the lifting roof seem)How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?Don't DIY unless you have experience in this sort of thing. You might as well take a spraycan and paint the car like that.

If you want cheap and sloppy, take it to macco and they can do it for $1000.

If you want good, take it to a professional well known paint shop and it'll cost between $3000-5000.How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?
Unless its structural....

Learn to love rust ;)

Seriously, I have had a VW Camper for 20 years and you will be (if you live in the UK or similar climate) chasing rust round for the rest of your days. I have friends who have payed thousands for a full resto (watch campervan crisis on Discovery H%26amp;L) only 5 years later the bubbles are coming through. I also have friends with 'rat look' vans that show the genuine patina you get with age but even they are waxing and varnishing to keep the rust at bay. Concourse vehicles never go out in any weather and live inside carpeted heated garages sometimes but are still only 'show winners' for a couple of years.

Don't worry about how your vans paintwork looks, just get in her/him and have a great time!

Go to shows, join local clubs and internet forums, you can find them through VZi (google vzi vw) just kampers LTV VW Rusty Bay club etc etc You will find recommended, everyone you need on any of those sites, also google 'dubdoctors' for welding, parts and panels etc

Have fun!

How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?i dont know where you are but i work in a garage in plymouth and right next door is a veedub specialist who would do it!

here in my garage the base rate for resprays in 拢1500, but you mention rust which will bunk the price up and because its a large vehicle you would prob, in the end be looking at 拢2500 to 拢3000, depends also if its going the same colour, if not what colour it is and what its going to and weather you want inside the doors etc done! How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?
Well with that type of work it's really best to shop around phone several shops , try even a small town body shop etc.To me I'd base it on if any reg vehicle like a mid size car needed a bit of body work first off it be a good 500 to 1,000 bucks just for the body work that you're mentioning.Second the painting can be done on some vehicles like mid sized cars for about 500 to 800 bucks or well over 1500 bucks and much more and some even paint them for as little as 250 bucks at times during sale prices. But really any avg place would charge a good buck for doing a camper-van repaint job, I'd say with body work and painting you might find a shop to do it for 1500 to 3000 bucks and some would want up to 5,000 bucks or even more.

Be sure you find out what materials etc the body shop plans on using and what type of paint and what grade of paint.Example will it have a natural glass shine at end of job etc.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way you might be able to find a shop etc that will give you a really good paint job quote but you may need to find a shop to do the body work first.

It's just my experiences dealing with painting or body work or experts in the fields I really find that some much prefer to just say do sanding and basic body work and don't like to paint so they might charge a bit extra bec an extra man or paint person is called in on that job etc.Same goes visa versa and no joke I've known mechanics for example that clearly stated upfront to their customers they hated exhaust work and charge more if you want it done etc.

Again we've all certain areas of expertise and yes just like any job some parts of it we might not like to do but are willing to do things like spray paint any vehicle quickly as long as no body work is involved at good fair rates or sand and body fill etc as long as we don't have to paint.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way just like myself I may have electrical expertise and a nack for fixing cars etc but really at times I hate doing the trouble shooting on vehicles wiring issues or the re-wiring etc lol I really do highly recommend that you check the small town shops and family run business's for such work and don't be in any rush have patience and I hope you find a really good deal bec I know their out there. How much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?they vary from paint shop to paint shop, the cheapest is not nessassary the best to take, get a few quotes from different paint shops, and see what they will offer you for that money in the way of filling, rust treatment, laquer, how many coats etc, warrenty agains peeling off etc etcHow much should I expect to pay for a vw campervan respray?
all depends on the paint you use and where you have it done but it could cost a bit
