When my battery went dead, my air bag light came on. Now that I have a new battery the light is still on. The VW dealer wants $115.00 just to take a look at it.... is there anything I can do to turn it off myself???How do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?Try your local shop. Someone besides VW has to be able to reset it. If it's just a fault from the battery going dead, that should be all it needs. How do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?
that mean there is problem in air bag system or possible just need to reset try to disconnect negative side of the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect ..How do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?Disconeccting the negative cable WILL NOT WORK!!! You have to use a scanner to clear the trouble code that caused the light to come on. You could take it to any shop that has a special scanner for VW vehicles, some independent shops charge around $69.00 to have the whole system scanned. I know of a shop in L.A. that will do it free of charge.
BEWARE OF THE DEALER!!! as they will tell you a bunch of lies and you may need only to reset the code. How do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?
fix it yourself and just maybe it wont blow your head off !!!!!!!! let a pro fix itHow do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?you can reset the light by removing the battery for a few minutes, however don't do it. if there is a problem with the airbag system, the light turning on also disarms the system to prevent an accidental airbag deployment. if you clear the light you will rearm the system and that could be dangerous. pay the 115$ at the vw dealer. beetles are notorious for wiring harness issues. goodluckHow do I turn off the Air bag light on my 2000 VW Beetle?
you can buy a scanner for less than that, you probably have a low voltage fault, if so clear the code, of other than low voltage leave it, take it to a shop and have a diagnosis performed
