Does anyone know where I can find a good used engine for a 1987 VW Vanagon?

This was an unusual model--it's water-cooled. Is there another year VW that would work? Is there another auto make with an engine that would fit? Help. Stuck in Palm Springs. It was 121 degrees here yesterday.Does anyone know where I can find a good used engine for a 1987 VW Vanagon?VW made that motor from 86 to 92 however its hard to find a used one as they tend to blow head gasket. Dealer does sell an exchange motor. You can also have a Subaru motor put in but you will have to find someone who can do it.
