Could a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage?

I know the fuel pump is good and the fuel pump relay is good also. It also doesn't provide a spark but once in a great while after messing with the ignition same goes for the fuel pump, it wont activate unless you mess with the ignition. So any help would be greatly appreciated.Could a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage? You have a water leak into the fuse block ? Pinched wiring harness from a fender bender? Check your main ground/body ground. Maybe a bad ignition switch ?Could a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage?
Should not have any effect on each other - sounds like you have an electrical (wiring) problemCould a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage?nope two different parts if you dont have any fire to pump then thats a problem if you have no fire to coil then thats another and seem like you got a ignition problem not any thing elseCould a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage?
The ignition coil is fed through your ignition switch just as the fuel pump is.Sounds like your ignition switch is worn out.

It can be replaced.

Don't pull the wires off the old one.Disconnect it from the dash and pull it down where you can see.(if its dash mounted)

Look at the back of the old one and see where the wires are.Pull one wire at a time and place it on the same spot on the new one.

install in dash

No muss no fuss hunting down wiring diagrams and color codes.Could a ignition coil in a 1983 VW Rabbit cause the fuel pump to not engage? You are talking alot about the ignition. So replace the ignition(not the key part) the part that the electrical wires go to(as the ignition switch ) is made up of several parts. The ignition switch / key lock. Coil has nothing to do with the fuel pump.
