there is a vw over in England that does over 100mpg and this is a petrol car.Why is it then an English VW golf/jetta/passat diesel still far out seeds our American counter part? The US government requires those exporting countries to meet certain EPA standards that the europeans don't have, and that can make a huge difference in the product that is being exported to this country from europe, some countries such as France did not wish to adheer to those limitations that the US asked of them, so they don't ship cars to us, such as Peagout, which is a great car.Why is it then an English VW golf/jetta/passat diesel still far out seeds our American counter part? Its because we have stricter emissions regulations than Europe. You either get clean emissions or fuel economy, not both.
One of the many reasons why I hate tree huggers.
