How to get oil filter off my VW Polo 6N2?

Can't get the oil filter off my VW Polo. I have tried using one of them chain tools but it just slips and i don't fancy using the screw driver technique incase it doesn't work and i wont be able to drive the car at all. The filter looks like it has a nut on the top so you can take it off with a socket. Thanks in advanceHow to get oil filter off my VW Polo 6N2?It's a matter of getting the right combination of tools to fit your particular make year model car. As the first answer suggests, you have to have good access to the underside of the car typically to get to the oil filter. I often use a metal band type filter wrench that fits the diameter of the filter. Then a standard ratchet drive handle (with or without a drive extension) fits into the filter band wrench to either help tighten or remove it.How to get oil filter off my VW Polo 6N2?Use the nut on top of the oil filter to remove the filter. If you still cant loosen it, then take the car to a garage where it can be properly raised up on a lift and removed easily. This way if they strip it trying to remove the filter, it is already at a shop and they can chisel the filter off. No worries on your part.

good luck......
