How to disable the alarm on a 2000 VW Jetta?

I only have my manual key and half the time I open my door, the lock opend but the alarm does not turn off. I can sometime re-lock then unlock back and forth and the alarm will go off. That does not always work so I sit in my car for 30 seconds with my alarm blarring.

I do not want to take this to the dealer and fork over a lot of money. I would rather learn how to disable the alarm.

Can someone please tell me how to do this or where I can find out.

Thank you!How to disable the alarm on a 2000 VW Jetta?Look under the dash buy th steering colum there should be a small switch insert your key and turn forward but do not start you will have 10 seconds to turn alarm off this will deactivate and do the same to reactivateHow to disable the alarm on a 2000 VW Jetta?Sounds like your door lock is going bad. Common problem in VW's they have a switch in the door lock actuator that goes bad due to normal wear and tear plus its plastic what else can you expect? All you can do is take it to a repair shop that regularly works on VDubs and have them check your door lock and have them loop they wiring to the door lock.
