Can I change the key blade on my VW key fob to a new matching key fob from Ebay?

My girlfriend has just bought a VW Beetle and the key is not great. There are Ebayers selling new key fobs with uncut blades but a local VW dealer told me that I would be unable to get a key blade cut as they only come from Germany. Is this true? Dealer charging 拢190.00 for new blade, fob and re-programming. Thought about buying one of Ebay but this may not be a good idea! Then thought about buying one of Ebay and then switching over old blade to new blipper but would this work? Does it need re-programming and if so can this be done without going through a VW Dealership as they are a rip off? Can anyone help please? Can I change the key blade on my VW key fob to a new matching key fob from Ebay?Check on line for a mobile car locksmith .They will come to you re cut new key and reprogrammeCan I change the key blade on my VW key fob to a new matching key fob from Ebay?I have just had a quote for a new key from a VW dealership.

Blade 60 pounds

Beeper thingy (remote) 42 pounds

Reprogramming - need to take car and old key to workshop 40 pounds.

They wanted sight of the V5 for the car and my photo drivers license or passport.

I have seen the blank metal bits on ebay for 3-5 pounds, a message on a forum about paying 10 pounds to have it cut.

I have also see the remote thingy at 20-50pounds on ebay. You would still need to spend 40-60 pounds for the programming at a VW dealership.

I think I will get my whole key from the dealership. Can I change the key blade on my VW key fob to a new matching key fob from Ebay?nope your going to have to go to the dealership if you want the job done right and done the first timeCan I change the key blade on my VW key fob to a new matching key fob from Ebay?
Assuming you are thinking of the folding VW key a roll pin holds the blade to the key so in principle you could change the blade but you would have to go to a main dealer to have the new key synched to the car which would also require you taking all existing keys as well
