I just purchased a VW golf and now the MIL light came on. I checked the manual and it said that it may be b/c the car has been idleing. I did idle the car shortly before it came on. Are other people having fickle problems with their VW?
I've been looking over reviews for the VW golf and they look grim. Are other people having problems with their VW Golf or other model?Idling will not turn on the check engine light. A gas cap that is not properly tightened could illuminate the MIL light. Other than that you will need to get the car diagnosed with a OBD 2 computer or Vag COM from VW. What engine do you have? TDI will be the least problem prone at least with my experiences. 2000-2002 were pretty bad in terms of quality control. Are other people having problems with their VW Golf or other model? It is rummor that prior to 2002 the VW's haven't been holding up what year is it?Are other people having problems with their VW Golf or other model?I bought my wife a VW convertable bug in 2004 and we had its for less then 2 years and it went through 3 batterys, 2 injectors, 2 burnt convertable top motors, and other various issues they nevers coped too.
It was the worse car we have ever bought, and my 2007 GMC truck for some reason gets better gas mileage, and I'm floored as to what happened to VW. I used to think they were great cars, and after we bought her car I was going to get an R-32 but her issues drove me to just keep my old Buick as it always ran when I went to pick her up.
