Why does the electric window on my 2005 vw polo go up but come down by itself?

When I close the window with the one-click switch it goes all the up by itself but when it reaches the top it comes back down. anyone know what the problem is? VW dealership said I need to replace the motor. Why does the electric window on my 2005 vw polo go up but come down by itself? They are probably right. The motor has a resistance switch built in which will lower the window if it is stopped when going up . This is to stop people getting fingers, arms or heads trapped. These switches can get weak and the trigger and lower the window without anything stopping it.

On the other hand it could be out of adjustment. If the window goes up too high when it reaches the top it hits and thinks something is trapped and then re opens.

Or thirdly it could just be tight at the top and again it thinks something is trapped. If this is the case it can be solved with silicone lubricant on the rubbers. (This is unlikely)Why does the electric window on my 2005 vw polo go up but come down by itself?I know on my golf, when the battery has been disconnected you have to re-set the windows by running them to the bottom then back up in manual mode before the one-touch system works...it's worth a try re-setting yours. Failing that it seems the windows think there's too much resistance so they are rolling back down in the safety mode, so you need to find where that resistance is. Does the window go all the way to the bottom? Maybe the cables in the window mechanism have shifted?
