Does anyone Know which grade oil is required for my 1.6l Vw engine? ?

I have a 1979 VW Camper. Does anyone no what oil i should be putting in. (1600cc air cooled engine) I've looked on various websites but seem to be finding different results. Does anyone Know which grade oil is required for my 1.6l Vw engine? ?Can be straight 30W,or 10/30W . if you are in the southern states 10/40W. All is good. It is not complicated. If it is a bad leaker, then go with bulk oil(which is about 30W) until the repairs are made for the leaks on push rod tube sealsDoes anyone Know which grade oil is required for my 1.6l Vw engine? ?
You can stop by the local VW dealership and ask them, I'm sure they'd be happy to answer your question, look in your owners' manual to see what is recommended for your area, it has alot to do with the grade oil you should use. VW has a website that you can use, you'll find it if you Google it. 20/50 is the best bet but Castrol do an oil for engines which have done %26gt;75000 miles which might be appropriate.Does anyone Know which grade oil is required for my 1.6l Vw engine? ?10w40
