What is the best year for the VW new beetle?

i want to know what was the best year for the vw beetle convertible. im looking to buy used and i keep finding lots of information everywhere, good and bad. i wanted to know what is the best model year in terms of reliability and such. also people who own them what do you think?What is the best year for the VW new beetle?I disagree. I know 2 people that own NB convertibles.

One is a 30 year old woman. Bought hers used a couple of years ago.

The other is a 56 year old man .Bought new.



Both have owned them for many years; although I dont remember the car's years. Both love their NBs. Neither have had a major problem.

The one NB has just had its timing belt replaced; her car had over 100,000 miles on it. Thats the only part she has had to have replaced.

My wife and I have owned a 1999 NB [not convertible] and it was a great car; the only thing we had replaced was the water pump. Solid , reliable car.

However, any time you buy a used car , its pretty much a gamble. Unless you buy a Certified Used Car. They come with a warranty. NB's keep their value, and the converts especially so.
