my dad is about to buy me a 1999 vw passat, but i wont be able to see it untill he actually buys it. he says it has a cloth interior so im assuming its the base model. a few days ago i test drove a different 1999 passat with a leather interior and it had and automatic trans with tiptonic shifting. im just curious if this option also came with the base models.Do all 1999 vw passat's with automatic transmissions have tiptonic shifting also?Don't even bother with a VW unless it has manual trans.
VW auto trans are a $3000 ticking time bomb waiting for you.
